Over 300 Bangladeshis return from UAE, Myanmar, Thailand
243 citizens back from UAE while the rest from Myanmar and Thailand
A total of 316 Bangladeshis have returned from the UAE, Myanmar and Thailand, where they have been stranded due to travel restrictions after the global Covid-19 pandemic unfolded.
The Bangladesh nationals, who have been stuck abroad for over two months, arrived Dhaka on Thursday by five special flights, including three operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Of them, 243 returned from UAE while 46 from Myanmar and 27 from Thailand.
A special flight from Abu Dhabi carrying 243 Bangladeshis landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 8:37 pm on Thursday, Biman Deputy General Manager (public relations) Tahera Khondoker told the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier in the day, a special flight from Myanmar, with 46 Bangladeshis onboard, landed around at 10:00 am, according to aviation security officials of the Dhaka airport.
Another special flit from Bangkok carrying 27 Bangladeshi nationals landed at around 2:00 pm.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, an airport health official said all returnees underwent thermal scanning at the airport.
“After proper screenings, all the Bangladeshis were allowed to leave for their homes,” said the official.
