Emirates Best Airline, US Bangla Best domestic Airline in Bangladesh
Emirates Airline has been voted as the Airline of the Year , US Bangla Airlines as the Domestic Airline of the Year , while Cathay Pacific as the Cargo Airline of the Year for 2015 by the frequent flyers of Bangladesh. This was announced at the Gala Award presentation Ceremony of the 7th Monitor Airline of the Year 2015 opinion poll, held at the Ball Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka today evening.
Premier Travel publications The Bangladesh Monitor has been conducting the frequent flyers opinion poll to recognise the best airlines, in various service categories, since 2007. The idea of conducting the poll is to assess popularity of the Airlines, operating in Bangladesh, judge their service standards and to create an atmosphere of healthy competitions among themselves.
This year a record number of 14,126 frequent flyers of Bangladesh have cast their votes either on line or on the voting forms in favour of their favourite Airline.
Janab Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Minister for Civil Aviation & Tourism was the chief guest on the occasion and presented the awards among the winners. Abdul Matlub Ahmed, President, FBCCI was present as the Special Guest. Among others Chairman of the Jury Committee and former Advisor to the Caretaker Government Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury and Editor The Bangladesh Monitor Kazi Wahidul Alam spoke on the occasion.
Recipients of other awards and categories are, Best Business Class –Emirates), Best Economy Class –Etihad Airways, Best Inflight Entertainment –Emirates, Best Inflight meal in Business Class –Turkish Airlines, Best Inflight meal in Economy Class –Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Best Short haul Airline –Bangkok Airways, Best Long-haul Airline –Emirates, Favourite Frequent Flyer Program –Skywards (Emirates), Budget Airline of the Year –Tiger Airways, Air Express Company of the Year –DHL Express. Besides, Private Airline NOVOAIR and Qatar Airways received Jury’s Appreciation Awards. Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur has been voted as the Most Popular Tourist Destination among the Bangladeshis.
The function was attended by diplomats, representatives from Airlines, travel trade, business community and Media.
