Gulf Air Restarts Dhaka Flight : MoU signed with Le Méridien Dhaka

gplf air-1Dhaka, 30 May, 2016: Gulf Air, the national carrier of the government of Bahrain, reinitiated its inbound and outbound flights for Dhaka today. The airline previously operated in Bangladesh from 1984 till 2012. The reinstatement of the airlines is the result of a long deliberated bilateral agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, focused towards providing a direct route access for the community of over 150,000 Bangladeshis currently residing in Bahrain as well as the increased number of travellers between the two nations in recent years. Its inaugural flight from Bahrain International Airport to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport landed at 09:00 hours this morning with 80% load factor and a crew of 12 members.gulf2
Following the arrival of the flight, Gulf Air Country Manager Hussain Ghuloom and Airport Manager Jassim Ghareeb celebrated the occasion with a private ceremony in Balaka Lounge at the airport. Special Guests at the event were Director, Flight Safety & Regulations Wing Commander Chy Md. Zia-Ul-Kabir, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Director, Customer Services (Actg) Md. Atique Sobhan, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Director, Airport Group Captain MK Zakir Hassan of Gulf Air. Also present was the Deputy High Commissioner Mehdi Jaffar, Embassy of Bangladesh in Bahrain who arrived as Chief Guest on the inaugural flight.
The inaugural crew and high officials of the airline were then taken to Le Méridien Dhaka where they were received by the hotel’s General Manager Ashwani Nayar and Director of Sales & Marketing Anwar Hossain with a cake cutting ceremony. The airline and the hotel have a long term agreement by which the crew and officials of Gulf Air will be accommodated at Le Méridien Dhaka. The airline will operate five flights weekly.
