Emirates’ aircraft circled the globe more than 18,000 times in the past year, suggesting UAE destinations such as Dubai are more popular than ever.
The airline carried more than 43 million passengers on 164,635 flights in 2013 on flight paths totalling 751 million kilometres last year.
The figures are good news for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Emirates Airlines is based, and no doubt had a positive impact on the property market and leisure and hospitality sectors in the region.
Emirates also set a company record for the number of meals produced in a single day during the run up to Christmas, when 157,308 were produced.
In addition, the airline received 24 new aircraft throughout 2013 and benefitted from January’s opening of Concourse A, the world’s first purpose-built A380 concourse.
“2013 has been another impressive year for the airline,” said Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines.
“We continue to raise the bar in the industry with investment, innovation and the expansion of our services globally, bringing unrivalled value for money to the millions who travel with us.”
