We hope to attract 10 lakh foreign tourists in 2016: Menon

wehopeDhaka : “There are immense possibilities in Bangladesh in the field of tourism. We have declared 2016 as Visit Bangladesh Year. Work is going on in this sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We hope to attract 10 lakh foreign tourists next year.”
Rashed Khan Menon, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, said this while addressing a Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) programme at Pan Pacific Hotel in the city on March 25 to celebrate its recent successes.
HT Imam, Political Adviser to the Prime Minister and Muhammad Faruk Khan, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism, Khurshed Alam Chowdhury, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, CEO, Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and Mario Hardy, CEO, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), also spoke on the occasion.
Two TVCs made by BTB_ “Beautiful Bangladesh_ School of Life” and “Beautiful Bangladesh_ A Land of Stories” were screened during the evening. The awards won by the latter TVC include: Fifth Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards_ Silver Award Winner; Das Goldene Stadttor_ Diamond Award; Silver Stevie Award in 2014 (The International Business Awards)-Silver Award; Zagreb Tourfilm Festival_ First Prize; Second Baku International Tourism Film Festival: Silver Award; Inter-national Committee for the Toiur Film Festival Nominee for the Grand Prix for the best tourism film worldwide; and Prix Jury at Tourfilm Festival Karlovy Vary.
