Hawaiian Airlines proposal for more flights to Tokyo Haneda.
For today’s business report, Hawaiian Airlines is asking for three more Haneda slots, all for Honolulu flights. It’s part of a proposal for more flights to Tokyo Haneda.
In 2010, when it first flew Haneda, Hawaiian got 10% of revenue from international flights. Now it’s 26%, and Hawaiian serves several different cities in Japan.
Tokyo-Hawaii is the largest U.S.-Japan market. Twice as many as LAX. Hawaii gets more Tokyo passengers than all West Coast airports put together. Hawaiian’s Haneda flights run 92% full, even fuller than Delta’s Haneda service to LAX.
Hawaiian also notes that Haneda has way more Japan connecting flights than Narita. Hawaiian gets 52% of its Japanese passengers from outside the Tokyo region.
