46 Afghan aircraft ‘forced’ to land by Uzbekistan’s Air Force

Aviation News Desk:

The Uzbekistan Air Force has said it “forced” the landing of 46 Afghan aircraft carrying as many as 585 armed servicemen over the last two days. The planes carrying the servicemen were trying to illegally cross Uzbekistan’s airspace, a statement by the Uzbek prosecutor general’s office said.

The Afghan government collapsed on Sunday and the Taliban insurgents took control of the capital Kabul. Many Afghan nationals and servicemen have been trying to flee the country since then.

In another statement, the Uzbek Defence Ministry said an Afghan military jet was shot down by defence forces on Sunday and crashed after crossing the border into Uzbekistan.
