SIA’s new cabin class, inflight offerings to launch in August

20150531232222sianewsSingapore : Following a two-year development programme and an investment of approximately US$80 million, Singapore Airlines last week unveiled it’s new premium economy offering.
The new travel class is in a separate cabin, to distinguish it from regular Economy Class, and will be progressively introduced on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing B777-300ERs and the first 20 Airbus A350s.
Features include wider seats with full leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar; individual in-seat power supply; two USB ports; additional stowage space for personal items; premium food and beverage; and property check-in and baggage handling.
Catering to small, high-end incentive groups, cabin seating capacity ranges from 36 seats in the A380, to 28 in the B773-ER, and 24 in the A350.
Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Commercial, Mak Swee Wah, says, “Many of our customers have been asking for a Premium Economy offering and we are confident that what we are delivering will exceed their expectations.
“The new cabin product is the culmination of two years of work, which included extensive research and focus group studies involving customers and our design partners.”
Premium Economy will enter commercial service on August 9 to Sydney, before being introduced to other destinations such as Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Zurich.
