The Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh has once again made it clear that the travel ban, imposed earlier on Bangladesh nationals to visit Libya, still remains in force due to the existing instability in the North African country.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya and the Foreign Ministry here in separate messages on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively reminded the Bangladesh nationals and migrant workers about the travel ban.
On October 8 last year, the Foreign Ministry, in a statement, advised the Bangladesh nationals, including migrant workers, not to undertake any visit to Libya in view of the fighting and deteriorating security situation there.
The government also requested Bangladesh nationals to refrain from visiting Libya until the further notification in this regard.
Some 40,000 to 50,000 Bangladesh nationals are working at different sectors in Libya, according to an unofficial estimate.
On March 25, three Bangladesh nationals were shot dead in Benghazi, 1200km away from the Libyan capital of Tripoli, by army personnel.
Later, the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli asked Bangladesh nationals living there to limit their movement and remain alert to avoid any unexpected incident at the trouble-torn North African country
