Bangladeshi pilgrims will have to spend minimum Tk 319,355 to perform Hajj this year under private management.
In addition, they will need to take Tk 10,750 with them to sacrifice animals.
Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) President Ibrahim Bahar made the announcement at a press conference held at a city hotel on Thursday.
He said the government on January 30 set the base price for private Hajj packages at Tk 156,537. After adding food and accommodation costs by the hajj agencies, the gross total stood at Tk 319,355.
Pre-registration for Hajj will start on February 19 and Hajj aspirants will have to pay all the costs by March 30, he added.
Replying to a query, Mr Bahar said the licences of Hajj agencies will be cancelled if they get involved in human trafficking in the name of Hajj.
At least 127,198 people – 117,198 under private management and 10,000 under government management – will get chance to perform Hajj this year.
The government also announced two hajj packages under its management recently which will cost Tk 381,508 and Tk 319,355 respectively.
According to the government decision, each of Hajj agencies will be allowed to send minimum 150 and maximum 300 pilgrims.
Subject to moon sighting, this year’s Hajj is likely to start on September 01.
