One held with 1.8 kg gold at Shahjalal airport

Customs officials arrested a man with gold bars weighing around 1.88 Kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early Thursday.

The arrestee is identified as Humayun Kabir, of Comilla.

Customs Assistant Commissioner (AC) Md Al Amin said Kabir landed at airport on a Malaysia Airlines Flight (MH 196) from Malaysia early Thursday at around 12:15am.

“Costumes officials challenged him while he was crossing the green channel area and searched him for his suspicious movement,” said the AC.

“After searching Kobir several gold bars weighing around 1.88 Kilograms was found inside his shoes,” he added.

A case was filed with Airport Police Station in this regard, said the AC.
