United Airlines (Nasdaq: UAL) is adding nearly 25,000 domestic
and international flights in August as travel demand slowly
starts to pick up, though the number of flights is down
40% from where it was last year.
The Chicago-based airline said its schedule for August
is triple the number of flights it had in June,
but travel demand remains “a fraction” of what it was at the end of 2019.
Still, the carrier noted travel numbers are starting to show some recovery. The latest TSA figures show that more than 600,000 passengers
passed through airport security checkpoints on June 29,
the first time since March 19 that those numbers exceeded
25% of pre-Covid levels.
