The Pentagon has confirmed in a statement that the last US military flight from the Afghan capital, Kabul, has departed.
As a result, the 20-year US-led war in Afghanistan officially came to an end.
The commander of US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, said in an earlier statement that the United States had evacuated 79,000 people since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan on August 14.
