US Bangla Airlines to add 3rd aircraft for increasing frequency
DHAKA, March 28, 2015 (BSS) – US Bangla Airlines, the newest private airlines in the country’s aviation sector, will add third aircraft to its fleet by May aiming at launching flights on new domestic routes as well as increasing flight frequencies on the existing routes.
“We are expecting to receive our third aircraft as like previous two 76-seater DASH-8-Q400 turboprop by first week of May,” the airlines Head of Airport Service Major (retd) Arif Khan told BSS today.
In this affect an agreement was signed between US-Bangla Airlines and Nordic Aviation of Denmark in Singapore on March 24 last, he said.
Arif said the airlines is planning to increase its flight numbers on its existing domestic routes from Dhaka to Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Jessore, Sylhet and Syedpur.
“We are also planning to launch domestic flights on Dhaka-Rajshahi and Dhaka Barisal routes after getting clearance certificate of the new aircraft from Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAA,B),” he said.
He also said the private airlines is also thinking of introducing direct Jessore-Cox’s Bazar flight for the first time in the country.
The US Bangla Airlines is also taking preparations to start its flight on different international routes including Kathmandu, Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Adu Dhabi, Doha and Jeddah.
“We are planning to add Boeing 777 to our fleet to start the international operations,” he said.
In the last week, an agreement was signed between national flag carrier Biman, Bangladesh Airlines and US Bangla Airlines in the capital. Under the agreement, the US-Bangla airlines will provide 15 staff including captain, first officer and cabin crews to Biman from April 1.
US-Bangla was the fourth private airlines to tap growing air traffic on local routes in July last year, aiming to benefit from expanded business activities and tourism.
It is nearly one and a half years after Novoair took to the skies. Two other private carriers, United Airways and Regent Airways, operate on both international and domestic routes.
