Passengers caught with gold plates at Shahjalal Airport
A passenger from Jeddah was caught at Shahjalal International Airport with a gold plate weighing about 1 kg.
Khorshed Alam, a passenger of Flight No. SV-3007 from Jeddah, was challenged and searched around 3:30 pm on Sunday and the gold plate was seized.
Customs House Assistant Director (AD) Solaiman Saif Hossain said the passenger who was coming from Jeddah with a gold plate weighing about 1 kg worth about Tk 60 lakh, was detained in collaboration with the Custom House’s Dhaka B-Shift and Preventive Team.
The seized gold has been dealt with under the Customs Act and the detained passenger has been handed over to the Airport Police, the Customs House said.
