State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said on August 22 that the government had taken steps to repatriate 27 Bangladeshis stranded in Afghanistan.
They were relieved after the announcement of the minister.
On Tuesday, 9 Bangladeshis were scheduled to return home in the first phase on a special flight initiated by the United Nations.
But news of the hijacking of a Ukrainian passenger plane at Kabul airport did not allow them to return home.
After packing everything, they left for Kabul airport at 3 pm.
But halfway through the news came a Ukrainian plane with passengers was hijacked from the airport.
News of this spread throughout Afghanistan.
The flight was canceled due to security crisis.
In the end, 9 Bangladeshis did not return to the country from Afghanistan.
