Cathay Pacific takes delivery of 50th Boeing B777-300ER
Hong Kong : Cathay Pacific has taken delivery of its 50th Boeing B777-300ER (Extended Range). With this delivery, Cathay Pacific will have 67 B777s in operation, which also includes 12 B777-300s and five B777-200s.
Cathay Pacific is slated to receive three more B777-300ERs this year, and is one of the launch customers for the B777X with 21 B777-9X airplanes on order.
“The B777-300ER forms the backbone of our long-haul fleet,” said Ivan Chu, Chief Executive, Cathay Pacific Airways. “We operate the largest B777-300ER fleet in Asia, and this super-efficient long haul aircraft allows us to operate multiple daily frequencies to intercontinental markets, which gives our customers a lot of choices.”
Cathay Pacific group operates flights to nearly 100 destinations worldwide with its own fleet of more than 200 aircraft.
In North America, the airline currently operates some 100 passenger flights a week to New York (JFK), Newark Liberty, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto and Vancouver. The airline launched a four-times-weekly service between Boston and Hong Kong on 2 May.
Cathay Pacific Cargo serves 13 cities across the Americas using the latest B747-8 freighter fleet.
